Why is reading important?

Why is reading important?

Well, reading is important because if we do not know how to read, we will not be able to communicate and understand simple written instructions. We read to learn and to know about a lot of things . Reading is important because it is knowing what is right or wrong like for example : The bible is an important book in our daily lives .If we don’t know how to read, we will not be able to know things about Jesus and his teachings. On TV, we watch the news so we know what’s happening around us but if we read news online and  we don’t know how to read, you have no idea what’s happening around you.

Reading helps us how to write too. In school, we are taught to read and write what we have read. Reading helps us to communicate. So we can write and send letters from other places around the world.  It also helps us to understand each other.

Reading is important because it develops the mind. The mind is a muscle and it needs exercise. Reading the written word is one way for your mind to grow in its ability.  Reading helps children or adults focus in what someone is saying (talking about).

Why is reading important? It is how we discover new things. Books, magazines and even the Internet are great learning tools which require the ability to read and understand what is read.

Reading develops our  imagination. TV and computer games have their place, but they are more like amusement.  Reading is a vital skill in finding a good job too. Many well-paying jobs require reading as a part of job performance. There are reports and memos which must be read and responded to.
